Interview Questions - Chris and Ann

 Goals:

-         Find out how students keep track of their schedules. Including, but not limited to:

o       Class

o       Work

o       Midterms

o       Homework due dates

o       Meetings (clubs, projects, etc.)

o       Misc. activities

-         What kind of artifacts they use? And why? Why do they prefer this method over others? What do they like about it?

o       Physical planners

o       Online planners (gCal, TritonLink weekly planner)

o       Nothing – remember everything

o       Wall calendar

-         How do students plan things with other students and coordinate schedules with other students?

 

Interview:

Open-ended questions

-         What will you be doing tomorrow?

o       How do you remember this? Do you write it down anywhere or use anything to help you remember?

 

-         Say it’s the beginning of the quarter and all of your professors just gave you the dates of all your midterms. What do you do with this information?

 

-         How do you remember things like when you have class, your work schedule, homework due dates, meetings for clubs or projects?

 

-         Do you use anything like daily planners, online planners (Google calendar or TritonLink’s weekly planner), wall calendar, or PDAs to help you plan out your schedule?

o       How often do you refer to your (insert artifact) each day? Under what circumstance would make you take out your (insert artifact) ?

 

-         Tell me about a time when you had to schedule something with a friend?

 

o       How did you and your friend agree on a time?

 

-         Do you ever go to your TA’s or professor’s office hours?

o       (if yes): Tell me about the last time you decided to go to office hours. How did you decide to go to this particular office hour?

 

  •   Are you involved with any clubs or student organizations?
    • Tell me about the last time you coordinated an event with club members.
  • Let's say I invited you to a concert at Mandeville on Saturday at 2PM. What do you do with this information? How do you decide if you will attend?
  • How do you find out about university events? Do you read PEG? Student flyers? ArtPower?  Flyers on library walk, etc?
    • (if yes:) Tell me about the last time you decided to go to an university event?

  • Do you use TritonLink's weekly planner? If so, for what purpose and how do you use it?
    • Do you use the calendar to schedule anything other than classes? (ie. extracurriculars)
    • What limitations do you meet when scheduling events?
    • Is it easy to use?
    • Is there anything you would change about it?
  • Do you use TritonLink as a source of information for dates or events? (Academic calendar, events calendar)
    • (if yes:) if you could do anything, how would you make this information more accessible or easier to use?
