Apr 30 2007 08:43:00:000PM Two recommendations: 1) Allow a 4-year plan of a list of prerequisites that need to be satisfied by the college and major For example, I am a Human Bio major in Revelle. If I'm wanting to graduate in 4 years, let me see that I should take Hum 3,4,5 along with O chem my sophomore year 2)Allow for the class planner to be accessed earlier. For example, students are able to apply for Summer Session II right now, but the class planner only allows up to Summer Session II; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: John, Thank you for your suggestions. We do plan to work with the colleges to get more info, including 4 year plans, online for students. However, that information isn't quite in place for TritonLink at this time. It is on our list for later, though. Summer Session II should now be available in the class planner. Again, thanks for your comments.
Apr 30 2007 02:50:00:000PM I like the idea of the planner but I would like to see a button to add in other things besides classes (such as gym time or work) and i would also like to see gridlines on the planner; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Christa, Thank you for your suggestion. Several other students have requested that they be able to add personal items as well. We are looking into this for the next release of the planner.
Mar 30 2007 04:55:00:000PM Allow to enter text into the schedule (rec classes, extracurriculars, etc) because that helps plan the week as well. ; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: No Comment
Mar 28 2007 07:11:00:000PM The ability to rename planners would be very useful.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Ryan, Thanks for the suggestion. We'll keep it in mind during the next release.
Mar 25 2007 07:31:00:000AM Hello, Great work on the Class Planner. I have a suggestion. You should implement a capability that allows for the user to add a personal schedule, such as a Rec Class or a job. Thanks! Wesley Hsu; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Wesley, Thank you for the suggestion. We have had the same suggestion from many students and are looking to adding this feature in the future. Beth Surrell TritonLink
Mar 18 2007 03:16:00:000AM I think there should be an option to add in Oasis and just everyday things like lunch, excercise etc as that can effect classes also :); STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Karina, Thank you for your suggestion to improve the class planner. We are exploring the option of adding personal appointments to the planner. Beth Surrell TritonLink
Mar 06 2007 07:55:00:000AM My planner was suddenly lost. I had uploaded 'Spring 2007' several days ago and finished working on it yesterday since my registration time was 7:25 this morning. Everything was lost and there is no evidence as to what my tentative schedule was.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: We are aware of the schedule of classes error and we are working to resolve it as quickly as possible. We'll announce on TritonLink when it's fixed. TritonLink
Mar 03 2007 09:08:00:000PM It would be helpful to have the option of being able to forwarding a particular planner to an academic and/or major advisor.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Melody, Thank you for a great suggestion. We have some improvements planned for the class planner, and we'll take a look at this idea during the next update. Becky Scott TritonLink
Mar 02 2007 07:51:00:000PM Can't seem to add physics 2A section A or B; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Do you get an error message when you try to add? Can you tell me more about what happens when you try to add? Becky Scott TritonLink
Feb 28 2007 06:22:00:000PM The beta planner doesn't let me include my own events on it. It just allows me to put my class schedule.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: No Comment
Feb 26 2007 04:12:00:000PM i think this is great, and very helpful, but would be even more helpful if it were possible to add things to the schedule that were not classes, for example it would be helpful if i could section off blocks of time for when i may have to work. ; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Shanti, Thank you for your comment. Several students have also requested this feature. We'll add it to our list for future releases. Becky Scott TritonLink
Feb 26 2007 03:03:00:000PM I think the class planner is really helpful, because you can plan out different options for classes. I also like the updates on how many spaces are left in discussions or classes.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Winnie, Thanks for your comment. We're glad you like the planner. Becky Scott TritonLink
Feb 26 2007 02:26:00:000PM I have logged in and when I try to use the 'Class Planner (Beta)' it says 'Permission Denied. Your profile indicates that you are not authorized to view this information.' Why is that?; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: respond via email.
Feb 22 2007 06:25:00:000PM This planner is incredibly useful. What it is missing is a link to the prerequisites for each course (I noticed that the link to the General Catalog description has the prereqs, but in my experience the General Catalog does not always match what the system has). Something else I would appreciate in this tool would be an ability to sign up for all the courses in a saved planner at once. One more thing that I would find useful is an ability to filter courses within a department to only the courses for which I currently meet the prereqs, or will meet by the end of the quarter. I think that this would be great for finding technical electives. Also this would eliminate much tedious navigation (I'm lazy and don't like clicking any more than is absolutely necessary (also, I have a poor memory which only compounds the tedious navigation and inconvenient clicking)).; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Paul, You have some excellent suggestions. I'm sure that you're aware we do have the prereqs listed on the schedule; however it would certainly be convenient to have the links from the planner as well. We'll add your suggestions to our list of things to review when we do the next update to the planner. Becky Scott TritonLink
Feb 22 2007 02:41:00:000PM I like this option very much. For it allows one to very easily change and check the seat availablity of classes prior to enrollment times.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Stephanie, Thank you for using the planner. I'm glad it meets your needs. Beth Surrell TritonLink
Feb 22 2007 12:45:00:000PM Hello, I love the class planner it is great. However, it would be wonderful if once you add a class to your planner, that somewhere it would display the ID number for the course (such as 588585) so that you could just copy this code into webreg, without having to go back to the course scedule and find those courses again, Alternatively, if you really wanted to make the class planner more versitile, you could add a button (call it 'Sign-up for these classes'), so that the user could create his planner and actually sign up for these classes with one click. Either way, one or both of these addtions would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Matthew, I'm glad you like the planner. The long range goal is to tie it to WebReg. Thanks for your suggestions on how you would like to see the connection. Beth Surrell TritonLink
Feb 21 2007 06:24:00:000PM When I tried to add a class that had a TBA time for a discussion section, it wouldn't let me. However it would be very helpful to be able to add the lecture for that class anyway. Is it possible to add a lecture that has a warning that their is a part of that class that has not yet been announced?; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Matthew, This is a known limitation. Many students have given similar feedback. I will pass your suggestion on to our programmers. Beth Surrell TritonLink
Feb 20 2007 04:34:00:000PM A really convenient feature for the class planner would be..actually being able to click a button and all those classes that you scheduled in the class planner to automatically register on webreg.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: John, This would be a great feature and one we are planning for. I can't give an estimate yet as to when we will implement that, but be assured it is what we want as well. Beth Surrell TritonLink
Feb 20 2007 03:20:00:000PM it would be nice if we could actually sign up for classes during our enrollment times; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: No Comment
Feb 20 2007 02:17:00:000PM Even though a class has a TBA discussion time, one should still be able to add it to the planner. At least the lecture times should show up.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Rami, Thank you for your suggestion. We will look at this in the next phase of the planner. Beth Surrell TritonLink
Feb 18 2007 01:04:00:000PM would like to be able to plan for more upcoming quarters.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Han, Thank you for your comment. The Class Planner is dependant on the Schedule of Classes. At this time we don't know all the details for classes in the future quarters. If the process changes in the future, we'll be able to provide future quarters in the planner. Beth Surrell TritonLink

Feb 15 2007 12:01:00:000AM This is a great tool. It's very helpful.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Jennifer, Thank you for your comment. We're glad you like the planner. Becky Scott TritonLink
Feb 14 2007 08:44:00:000PM The program only lets me add either a discussion section or a lab, but not both. Some classes require both, or even more sections.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Johnny, Thank you for your feedback regarding the planner. We'll take a look at this during the next round of updates. Becky Scott TritonLink
Feb 14 2007 08:16:00:000PM I wrote the following paper with two others about Class Planner Beta for a Cognitive Science class, COGS 120: Human Computer Interaction. We thought it would be useful to provide the results and conclusions we wrote about to the team behind Class Planner Beta. Here is the text of the paper: Alexander Garbowitz Malcolm Poindexter Nick Archer Cogs 120 - Project 2 Class Planner is a program that is accessible off of the TritonLink home page. The program is currently in beta and the developers are looking for feedback on how to improve upon their program. This makes it a great example to study. Previous to winter quarter ‘07, students were forced to use “schedule of classes” in order to select and decide on which course they would take. This was a tedious back and forth process, as the user browsed the various departments’ sites and wrote down when the desired classes were offered. The developers of Class Planner hoped to simplify students’ workload by having an organized site that quickly and easily allowed students to plan their classes for the upcoming quarter. The interface of the Class Planner starts once the link is selected off of the TritonLink web page. This brings up the login page, which allows the user to create a new planner by selecting a quarter and by typing in a planner name. This page also allows the user to open a saved planner and to delete saved planners. By creating or selecting a saved planer, the user enters the actual planner. The layout consists of three main frames; the left, right, and bottom. The left frame holds the information needed to find a class, the right frame holds the planner that is divided into hour blocks and by days, and the bottom frame holds finals information for the classes on the planner. Once the user has created a new planner or opened a saved planner, they are able to edit the planner and add/remove classes. There are two main ways to do this: the search feature, and the alphabetical listing on the left side. If the user selects the search feature they are able to type in the course number (ex. Cogs 120) and it will open a frame on the left with the information for that class. The other option is to select the letter of the department you want, which will open a list of alphabetical departments with that letter. From there the user selects the desired department, which brings up a list of classes offered by that department for the quarter. Next, the user selects the desired class. This brings up the class information. Once the class information is displayed, the user can then add or remove the class by clicking on the button. After the class is added or removed by clicking the button on the left frame, the planner is updated. When the user is finished planning their classes, they can print their classes and then go to WebReg to enroll. In order to gather information to better understand the interface, we conducted five interviews. These interviews followed the master/apprentice model, and were semi-structured. The interviews started by having the user sit down at a desk with the computer on the TritonLink web page and signing a wavier form. The user was than asked if they had used Class Planner before and to go ahead and find it and open it. Once they had found Class Planner, they were instructed to log in and create a planner. Next the user was asked to add their classes for the current quarter, and then to print their planner. The user was asked to remove a class and then to create a class conflict. After this, the user was asked whether it was clear that the class had been removed and if the conflict was clear. The user was then asked if it would be useful if Class Planner allowed them to add personal info, if it listed prerequisites, and if it would allow them to directly enroll in classes. Lastly, the user was asked if there were anything else they would like to add. During the whole interview, the user was asked to discuss any problems they were having, things that were frustrating them, and any suggestions they may have. The interviewer then thanked and dismissed the user and typed and organized the notes from the interview for easier readability. Our interviews highlighted several positive aspects of the interface that most users truly liked. The users found the split frame interface with the classes to add on the left and the potential schedule on the right to be a big improvement over using WebReg to add classes and plan the schedule. On WebReg, users had to continuously alternate between separate views of the schedule and proposed schedule. Instead, on Class Planner, they could directly see the impact of their changes as they were being made. The users also felt that the notification of a potential conflict when adding a class was convenient and well handled. The notification appeared on the left navigation frame and clearly listed all the classes which conflicted with the class being added. The users did not have a problem understanding this information and deciding on what action needed to be done to fix the problem. Finally, users were generally pleased with the amount of information that could be displayed if requested. Clicking a “more” button within a rectangle representing the class displayed additional information such as total seats, available seats, number of people on the wait list and the professor’s name. Many of our users had difficulty using the calendar portion of the class planner because of its poor layout. First of all, the background colors that alternately identified each hour block were a very pale blue or white. This didn’t really help users to tell what time their classes were. Instead more contrasting colors should be used by simply darkening the blue. It would also be better to have black horizontal lines every hour to clarify the time. To further increase the readability of the calendar, the hour should appear on the right side as well as the left so the user doesn’t have to look as far to find the time. In addition to the schedule, the coloring of the classes was poor. The boxes showing each class were a plain white color that was hard to distinguish from the background. It would be a good idea to have a thick outline around each box to separate it from the grid behind it. Users should also be able to select different colors for their classes and discussion sessions, much like they do on the weekly planner that is currently in use. In addition to this color change when a class conflict occurs, the conflicting classes should appear as red. Most of our users expected conflicts to be displayed in red based on their past use of the weekly planner. When it comes to finding classes to schedule, many people found the interface cumbersome at times. One flaw was that all of our users thought the classes were only listed alphabetically, and as a result they weren’t able to find the search feature. Several people would have preferred to have additional options to view classes based on the time of the class or what day it was on. This would make finding classes closer to how enrollment is done currently with WebReg. Another problem with this scheduling interface was the lack of an “undo” button which would be useful in case of user error. The display of classes on the schedule also had problems. One of these problems was that discussion sections were added with the class every time. Because discussion sections are sometimes cancelled or moved, the user should be able to remove or add the section independently from lectures. An additional change would be to allow more information to appear in the box for each class. When looking at the schedule some users didn’t like that that the room number didn’t appear unless the user clicks “more'. This made the schedule useless for printing and using to find classes. It would be better if the room number was shown all of the time. With this interface, our users found it difficult to find all the information about their classes that they wanted to. The text for the “more” link opened a small crowded display that was difficult to read. It would be better if selecting the “more” link would bring up the class information on the left side with all the additional information. This frame should include the prerequisites for the class in addition to the class’ information. Our users suggested it would be convenient if the course number also appeared on the left frame. Then the course number could simply be copied and pasted into a field on WebReg for enrollment in the proper section. Users suggested some additional features to add new functionality. One such feature is the ability to add personal info such as work schedules to the planner to help students find classes that would fit into their daily plan. When scheduling classes our users expressed that they would like to be sure that they could actually enroll in the classes they were scheduling. To accomplish this, the user should be warned via a message box, similar to the one for class conflicts, if they don’t have the prerequisites for a class they are trying to schedule. Another feature related to prerequisites was a “recommended classes” button that would show classes based on what they still needed to take to graduate. The Degree Audit tool already lists these classes and it could be used to find all the classes that satisfy the student’s remaining graduation requirements. Class planner currently utilizes “breadcrumbs” to help navigate the site. Breadcrumbs are a set of links which build a history of the path the user has taken to reach the page they are currently on. However, our users had trouble noticing the breadcrumbs and would instead hit the back button on their browser to navigate the site. Hitting the back button had the unexpected result of taking the users back to the login page instead of changing what class they were viewing. This frustrated several of our users. We recommend that Class Planner should have larger text for the “breadcrumbs”. This would make them more noticeable. In addition, hitting the back button should send the user back one link in the “breadcrumbs” hierarchy instead of back to the login page. Our users found several of the terms used on Class Planner to label links confusing. The print button as currently implemented does not actually print the page, but instead takes the user to a view of schedule suitable for printing. This mismatch between name and function could be resolved by simply renaming the link to “printable version”. Another link name which users felt was confusing was the “manage planners” link. Clicking this link took the user back to the login page. User’s mental image of the link’s function suggested that it would allow them to edit the current schedule. Renaming the link to “Switch Planners” would make user’s mental image of the link closer to the intended use of link. Our interviews helped us gather a great deal of valuable suggestions to improve Class Planner. We plan to forward the results of our interviews to the developers of Class Planner. This will hopefully prove useful in improving Class Planner. ; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Alexander, Thank you for sharing this with us. This is great! We appreciate you taking the time to let us know about your paper. We will certainly review the info you gathered, and see what we can incorporate in future improvements. Can you tell me who the instructor for this class is? Are you taking this class now, or was it last quarter? Again, we appreciate all the time you took not only to do this study, but to share the results with us. Becky Scott TritonLink
Feb 14 2007 12:20:00:000PM There should be options to add in extra cirricular activities. But so far, the class planner works. I wish there was something to plan out one's four year plan relatively to include minors or necessary graduate school requirements. ; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Truc, Thanks for your comment. We'll take a look at your suggestions during the next round of improvements. Becky Scott TritonLink
Feb 13 2007 03:20:00:000PM Make a link possible that allows the student to be able to put in specific times that they have things (sports, ect); STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Daniel, Thanks for your suggestion. Feb 13 2007 11:01:00:000AM Hi! I love the planner, but I have a problem on mine. For PHYS2B, you can't add it to your planner because there is no time for the discussion (well, there is, the computer just can't find it. It is under the information for the lecture). Is there any way for that to be fixed? Thanks!; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Kayla, Thanks for your comment. It looks like that discussion hasn't been scheduled yet. We'll take a look at your suggestion during the next round of improvements. Thanks for using the planner. Becky Scott TritonLink
Feb 12 2007 11:05:00:000AM It might be nice to have a finals schedule just so it can be visualized easily. Otherwise, this is an excellent tool that I will use every quarter. Thanks.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Jesse, Thanks for your feedback. A different view of the Finals list is under review. Beth Surrell TritonLink
Feb 10 2007 05:07:00:000PM I like being able to see where my classes are on the schedule so that I know how far I have to walk to get from one class to the other.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Justin, I'm glad you like the planner. We are also developing a better campus map tool that will make it easier to find walking paths between classrooms. Watch for that in the future. Beth Surrell TritonLink
Feb 09 2007 04:58:00:000PM It would be great if the planner can indicate the amount of units of each classes and the combined total after adding them to the planner.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Kenneth, Thanks for the suggestion. We'll take a look at this when we plan further improvements to the tool. Becky Scott TritonLink
Feb 09 2007 04:29:00:000PM One of my classes had a discussion that was To Be Announced. When I clicked to add the class, it didn't add it because of the TBA discussion. It would've been nice if it had at least added the lecture to the planner.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: No Comment
Feb 09 2007 02:43:00:000PM The class planner should allow for one to add custom boxes for things that aren't in the schedule of classes. For example if one has a job or something they should be able to add a custom field for that.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Rami, While you are able to add other items to your weekly planner, we don't yet have this feature for the class planner. We'll add it to the list of possible future improvements. Thanks for letting us know the features you'd like to see. Becky Scott TritonLink
Feb 09 2007 01:07:00:000PM You should be able to add a class (or at least part of the class like the lectures only) even when the discussions are TBA.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Randy, Thanks for this suggestion. We'll take a look at this in future improvements. Thanks for your comment. Becky Scott TritonLink
Feb 09 2007 11:44:00:000AM I love the planner, it is working much more smoothly than before W07 quarter. My only problem this time is that it won't add a class that has section times TBA. The lecture times and final are posted, just not section. It would be helpful to be able to add classes without sections since many classes don't announce section times until the start of the quarter. Thanks for this great tool! Gail; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Gail, Thanks for the feedback about this - we'll take a look at your suggestion in future revisions. Thanks for letting us know how you'd like the planner improved. Becky Scott TritonLink
Jan 31 2007 02:39:00:000PM -I would have liked to have seen the Course Select set as the default in the list of classes. -In my science classes, I am not restricted to attend only one section, so when I tried to see my schedule with multiple sections the program did not allow me.;

Dec 19 2006 09:08:00:000AM I cannot get the Class Planner to add a 7:30am-8:50am class, section ID 581804. It might be related to the Planner only displaying an 8am-10pm window of time. I have made several attempts to add this class, and all attempts seem to be stuck displaying the red highlighted 'Loading...' sign. ; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Sovath, Your assumption is correct. In our next release for Spring enrollment, we will have this corrected. But the program should give you a message that it can't add the class instead of attempting to load. We will look into that right away. Thank you for letting us know. Beth Surrell TritonLink
Dec 10 2006 05:29:00:000PM it would be awesome if you would include UCSD extension classes on the left panel also.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Pamela, Thank you for your suggestion. Nov 15 2006 04:55:00:000PM The application sometimes doesn't post the class selections you've made to the schedule, so you have to return to the menu to select the class and re-post it. A lot of the classes listed on the course schedule pages are not posted here, either. Needs a bit of work, but has potential.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Matt, Thanks for your comments. Nov 15 2006 11:48:00:000AM There's lots of problems with the system. When you add a class with a time conflict with another class, the other class jsut disappears from the schedule. Also, when you choose a section, sometimes only the lecture shows up on the schedule and not the section. Classes tend to randomly disappear. Also, when you click on some of the categories on the left, it'll say nothing is in them even though there is. I had to try several times.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Calvin, Thank you for your report. We have seen the problems you are describing when the system is busy. Nov 14 2006 01:32:00:000AM The class planner continues to remove my classes for no reason. Everytime I go to update the class planner it removes certain classes for no reason, or parts of a class (for example if a class shows up MWF, it will only show WF or something). When I go to add it again it lags and says please logout and try again. Oftentimes it does not show all the discussion sections at all. All in all, the class planner has proved to be fairly disappointing in its efficiency.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: No Comment

Nov 13 2006 06:35:00:000PM Too small, no color coding, no way that I saw to add your own events (sports meetings, club meetings, etc.), and if there is one, it's not obvious enough for I did not find it. No way to just type in the class, have to go through arduous menus. Typing in the exact section would be nice. Nov 13 2006 04:42:00:000PM This new Class Planner is a wonderful concept and serves as a convenient alternative to Excel for students. The only major problem I have encountered is that the Planner does not always load and display every lecture and section that I select to place on the spreadsheet. It displays certain class lectures and sections, but never all of them , even when I refresh the page numerous times. This makes planning a schedule frustrating at times because it often may not show conflicts. Fixing this glitch would make this program so much better. Otherwise, great concept and I look forward to seeing the continuation and improvement of this project in the future. Thanks.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Oswaldo, Thank you for your report. Our programmers are working on correcting this. Thanks for using the new class planner. Becky Scott TritonLink

Nov 09 2006 06:56:00:000PM This is pretty neat. It would be more useful if you combined the ability to search by day/time as with the Schedule of Classes. Also the description is too narrow for you to see many course titles. Often you can't remember what course number, but you know part of the description. When it's a special topic, all you see is the special topic. This doesn't work well on the mac in either Safari or Firefox. I add classes and they don't show on the planner, sometimes only the Thurs of a TuTh class shows up. When I add a new class, it takes away the old class sometimes.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Christine, Thanks so much for testing the class planner features! Nov 08 2006 03:31:00:000PM The ECE 53A class is not functioning correctly. When it says to choose a discussion, it gives 2 discussion options as well as the 3 lab options (then never gives an option for the lab). This makes it seem like you get to choose discussion OR lab. This also happens when review a planner i made, sometimes a class is missing and the time slot is empty, this can also happen when i go to print the calendar. Nov 01 2006 11:40:00:000AM The class planner should have a search for courses button like the class schedule module. It was very difficult to find one of the courses i wanted to take. ; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Jessica, Thanks for your suggestion. We do have a search, designated by the magnifying glass above the alpha search. We'll look at ways to make this more prominent. Thanks for using the new planner. Becky Scott TritonLink

Oct 31 2006 09:18:00:000PM This is an awesome, much-needed program! One problem I've noticed so far is with math 20F (and I'm sure other classes as well), there should be a discussion and lab section on tuesday and thursday, respectively. I am only able to put one or the other on my planner, rather than both. (Both should show up, at the same time, one on tuesday and the other on thursday.) Thanks, Jessica; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Jessica, Thanks for your comments. If there's an error in the way a class is showing, we'll work to fix it. Oct 31 2006 02:55:00:000PM this should be used instead of the schedule of classes option. Some of the links dont work. ie. my discussion section for socl 60 doesn't show up on the schedule. i think the lectures/ discussions should have the location on it without selecting 'more' I think you should also have the option to enter work or ex. curricular activities just as you can with the weekly planner. When classes become unavailable, or full, the student should know, by a grey colored link for example.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Shalene, Thanks for your suggestions. Oct 31 2006 01:57:00:000PM The load time of the program is very slow. When clicking on the 'more' button it blocks any information below it. Final exams should be grouped by the day it is on (ie. Oct 30 2006 10:51:00:000PM The planner is great. Oct 30 2006 07:19:00:000PM This is a great idea, but it would be useful to have a printer-friendly option that lets you just print out a one-page schedule and the finals list--like you can for current schedules. Oct 30 2006 09:30:00:000AM I think the class planner is a fantastic idea. It allows you to play with your schedule in a quick and easy way before registering. I wish they would have had this sooner. Oct 27 2006 02:15:00:000PM Hi! first of all, thanks, great tools! One minor suggestion. When using the UCSD Class Planner (Beta) when adding Math20D it didn't also let me add a lab.. you need to pick a section AND a lab for this course. Oct 27 2006 01:59:00:000PM I think the setup is great, and the choosing classes on the side is very easy and manageable. The thing that bothers me the most is the design. The font is much too small and cramped. Also, I think that making rows would help distinguish times of classes much easier.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Tiffany, Thank you for your comment. Oct 27 2006 01:19:00:000PM You should create a box to just add section numbers.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Jonathan, Thanks for your comment. Oct 27 2006 12:41:00:000PM I was using the Class Planner to help with scheduling for next quarter and everything worked fine except that there is no way that I could find to have a lab and a discussion for the same class show up at the same time (for example, classes like ECE 53A). Oct 27 2006 10:46:00:000AM Great program, but it would help if the time of lectures would show up on the grid along with class name, and the location of the lecture. Oct 27 2006 10:20:00:000AM For the Class Planner (beta): It stopped responding to requests while I was switching lectures a few times. Then I figured out I'd been logged out. Oct 23 2006 09:13:00:000PM A suggestion for the Planner .. . Oct 16 2006 10:24:00:000PM although it's a class planner, if we can enter other things, it would be greater and would be able to substitude weekly planner; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Jonathan, Thanks for your feedback. Oct 16 2006 09:02:00:000PM Let students add lectures without making them choose the section because some departments don't follow the discussions listed on the schedule of classes anyway. Or let students add lectures and sections separately.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Amanda, Thanks for your feedback. Oct 16 2006 05:14:00:000PM Have a ghost image of a class appear on the calendar. A nice way would be to have a different color for every class and have all the options showing on the calender until you pick one, or have each option appear as you roll over it with your mouse.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Thanks for your feedback. Oct 10 2006 02:07:00:000PM This is a really neat tool, and something we have been needing for a long time. I havent had too much time to look at it, but it would be nice if searching for a class was a little more accessible, if it had better colors and was more aesthetically pleasing, and if you could add in personal activities as well.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Brian, Thanks for your feedback. We'll be collecting comments for a few days, then looking at the tool again. Beth Surrell TritonLink
Oct 10 2006 11:20:00:000AM When the classes are in minimized mode, the class name is shown and the DI/LE section ID is shown. Perhaps it'll be better if instead of the DI/LE section ID, it shows the class room number. When I'm planning my classes, I check to make sure I can get to my next class within 10 min. Also, maybe an 'expand all' feature might be useful where the 'more...' link disappears and the calendar expands to whatever the size should be without hiding any data. When I click on 'more...' for classes that are close together, they tend to hide each other and that isn't really useful when I want an overview of the classes I have for this quarter. Oh, and is this going to replace the weekly class grid that we already have? If it is, there should be a place where we can add other personal things such as work.; STATUS changed to Close; NEW Comment: Edward, Thanks for your feedback.
