User CT; Persona: relies on external cues

  • Task: make classes disappear from calendar
    • Didn’t like “subscriptions” header, but recognizes it as the option
    • Suggest: “subscriptions” to “view”
  • Task: find the class website
    • user clicked on the whole event and didn’t realize that the class and location are two different links
  • Task: Add porters pub concert
    • Clicked on “other calendars”; jonathan treated that was “manage/edit calendar”
    • User thought “other calendar”
    • Expects browse to be separated by categories (ie. Social, academic)
    • User likes manage window disappearing after clicking on it
  • Task: keep one event -> right click and delete
  • Personal events and other events were color coordinated
  • Task: get rid of concerts
    • User expects to see options: remove, share, find related
    • User seems to be averse to menus and want manipulation on the spot
  •  Adding event from email was straightforward
  • Task: add event on calendar
    • User prefers to browse a list of locations, to add to the event display, as opposed to a map because user knows the name of the locations whereas he might not necessarily notice a building on a map; user claims this is faster and more efficient
  • Task: send a reminder for an event
    • User says – Instead of sent SMS and email; should have create reminder
    • Then replace pop up with a list of existing reminders; at the bottom of the pop up, you would have the options of email and sms with time
    • SMS should be replaced by something more understandable like text message
  • Task: print out a weekly class schedule
    • Wants to uncheck default box so that only classes showed up on calendar
      • Given the above condition, user wants to be able to right click on the calendar to see options like print academic calendar or print academic calendar
  • Task: make a to-do item
    • User did not see to-do tab and wants to the to do tab to be next to daily, weekly, monthly, which would replace the to do tab
    • Wants options to type in optional due date and click save
    • In order to add to calendar, user wants right click on a to do item that pops up a item menu that says show on calendar
    • To remove, right click the event as it shows on the calendar, then a pop up would show up, and then “check off” would be present to click on
  • Task: send today’s calendar to phone
    • Sent text message “day” to a calendar phone number, and received the day’s events
    • Text messaging costs is a concern
  • User liked ability to create reminders and have a to do list
  • Didn’t think its possible to add events through text message
  • On top of calendar, it should have show/print classes only option
