User YL
J: It’s the beginning of the quarter and you just signed up for your classes. You want to print out your class schedule.
User YL clicks weekly, “maybe settings”, clicks print. YL clicks classes. He is confused as to what “this week” should show up.
J: Say you don’t want these events to show up on your calendar?
User YL: Click on settings and expects > classes > add or remove classes and add or remove events. Clicks on add or remove classes – expects to see a list of classes under “Remove” and x’s next to the classes.
J: Say the settings menu actually did not exist. What would you do to get rid of classes?
User YL: Class planner > find classes?
Prefers the word “view” on the calendar tab. YL unchecks the classes box.
J: Say you want to add an event
User YL clicks to-do, types in “movie” under “add more”. YL decides to drag the to-do onto the calendar and thinks the to-do should stay on the to-do menu. He dragged the to-do on the calendar and expected to see the time and date of the event on the to-do.
YL expects to see the to-do events to be arranged chronologically.
J: Say you want these to-do’s to not appear
YL: calendar > un-check to-do
J: How would you try to get a reminder on this to-do event?
YL: right click > create reminder> SMS (would probably want a reminder one day before but suggests that the drop down menu should have days, hours, minutes).
To add a second reminder YL just clicked on the second type of reminder. If YL wanted to change the time of the reminder then he would just remove the actual reminder and make a new one.
J: Let’s say there’s a workshop event at the career center that your friend told you about. You want to find the time of the event. What do you do?
User YL initially thinks that he’s unable to find out that information. This is the same thing with the “Find Calendar” tab. User YL suggests for there to be a top level “campus events” tab.
When he gets to a posting of events he would like to see a short description of each event, and “add event to my calendar”.
He wants the screen to not disappear because he might have accidentally added something wrong
Overall YL finds that it is confusing to find school social events with this interactive calendar.
J: Say it’s the beginning of the quarter and you don’t know where WLH is. What would you do?
User YL clicks on “WLH 934324” and the maps thing comes up. YL doesn’t like the zoomed in version of the map and prefers a view that doesn’t exactly show up the entire school but is still large enough to show reference points such as Geisel.
J: Say you want to get today’s schedule on your cell phone
User YL texts “today” to get today’s schedule. He prefers this format:
|
Time
|
Class
|
|
2:00p
|
CSE 1123
|
|
3:00p
|
Cogs 102c
|
YL specifically likes how there are columns.
J: Say you got this e-mail (Jonathan shows YL the e-mail)
User YL clicks “add to calendar”
J: Let’s say you want to coordinate your schedule with someone else.
User YL’s suggestion: Find Calendar > PID or Share
>>User YL suggests that finding one’s PID is a good method to coordinate schedules
J: You haven’t used the class planner before but say you’re signing up for classes. You want to sign up for an anthropology class and you want to see how it fits in with your schedule.
User YL: class planner > click Anthropolgy > click Anthropology 1 >
User YL suggests that when you mouse over the list of classes you would see how the class fits into your schedule on the main calendar
